Introduction
If we see the act of “naming” as an attempt to seek potential comprehension, then“rewriting” is a creative process acknowledging that complete comprehension is impossible. Whether I am working with images, words, materials, forms, or other mediums, these two interrelated actions—'naming' and 'rewriting'—have always been central to my practice. They may have been born out of pure curiosity in my earlier years, but after experiencing “the endless fatigue and the occasional surprises”(in Liu Yu’s words) throughout the labor of art-making, I realize that they had long been internalized as my methodology. In this talk, I will examine how these actions are realized in different stages of my work and share my current understanding of them.
