Yao Dajun

Professor

Yao Dajun is a media and sound artist and curator. He is a professor at CAA, Vice Dean at the School of Transmedia Art, Director of the Open Media Lab, and Director of the Virtual Reality Lab. He is the Founder and Chief Curator of the SONART new media performance series, which has produced SoundArt Taipei and SoundArt Beijing, as well as the China Sound Art Exhibition. He has served as the host of Radio Subborg and the Director of the Post-Concrete record label. He is one of the most active promoters of avant-garde music in the Chinese music scene, dedicated to cultural experiments across high-tech platforms. His teaching emphasizes research on future studies and developing methods that center science fiction. In 2019, he founded the Future Writing Group to promote Chinese future writing projects. He has also participated in various curatorial and art projects.

Yao Dajun is a long-term collaborator with ICAST and often closely cooperates with the institute as a key member of creative teams. He participated in the Revolutions Per Minute: Sound Art China section of Reflecta – West Bund 2013: A Biennial of Architecture and Contemporary Art and contributed to the creation of sound and images at the Tribute 2018-Future Media/Art Manifesto.
