This symposium specifically focused on Asian contexts, such as Chinese socialism, market system, and India’s post-colonial and ‘pirate modernism’, to raise new questions and explore the relationship between art and various aspects of community, people, the masses, the multitude, the public, the group, class, the collective, the community, the public sphere, the oppositional public sphere, social networks. It also focused on urban and rural areas, imagining new possibilities of community.
