The West Bund: A Biennial of Architecture and Contemporary Art was led by chief curator Zhang Yonghe. Gao Shiming served as the art curator, organizing four special exhibitions on architecture, theater, video, and sound. under the theme ‘Reflecta.’ Li Xiangning was the architecture curator, organizing an international construction exhibition under the theme ‘Fabrica’. The curatorial team included ICAST students Liu Xiao, Wang Yan, Liu Tian, and Ma Nan.

‘Reflecta’ utilized the resources of the academy to conduct systematic research on contemporary architecture, sound art, video art, and contemporary theater. Four thematic exhibitions—Mapping China: A Retrospective Review of Its Architecture Since 2000, RPM: Sound Art China, Resolution Power: A Performative Video and Cloud Theater: Shanghai Odyssey—were integrated into the factory space. The exhibition aimed to reassess the historical ‘processes’ of Chinese architecture and contemporary art, exploring the motivations, intentions, events, and occurrences embedded in historical construction. ‘Reflecta’ embodied the meaning of ‘reflection’, ‘reversion’, and rethinking’, aiming to present a forward-looking vision through the revision of historical narratives, and thereby deepening the contemplation of media history, historical processes, live experience, and creative thought.
