Introduction

‘The insoluble past keeps coming back.’ In recent years, the work of artists has often evoked tragic events of the past, and sensitively captured the essential issues of the era. The events of the last century we have long forgotten: wars, divisions, revolutions, colonial plunder, have resurfaced in this century. Taking ‘Ghosts, Spies, and. Grandmothers: Seoul Mediacity Biennale 2014’ as the starting point, this lecture attempts to once again think deeply about the old problems of the ‘Asian region’ and discuss how to discover and focus on the enormous energy of the faintest existence.
