About Raiden INST

Raiden INST was founded in 2020. The name ‘Raiden’ or lightning was chosen due to its symbolic and physical properties: the ability to travel within clouds (within the art world), from cloud to cloud (interdisciplinary) or from clouds to earth (art and mass culture), implying  communication, collaboration and energy transmission. As a non-profit art organization, it explores the boundaries of art, technology and nature through interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as the intrinsic connections between technology, human cognition and senses. Raider INST is simultaneously committed to exploring the possibilities of exhibition outside of the ‘white cube’, and maintains multiple identities of curator and artist. By focusing on reality and social context, Raiden INST hopes to provide a platform for young artists to develop, display and disseminate their practice. In 2021 it jointly organised the ‘Emerging Sci-Tech Artist Awards’ and instigated the science and technology art exhibition ‘Do Not Black Out’ at Ming Contemporary Art Museum. Rooted in the changing ecology of contemporary art, it will continue to optimize its mechanisms, connecting domestic and foreign institutions to launch new projects and exhibitions. Recent exhibitions include ‘Not About Money’ at Sea World Culture and Arts Center, 2022, ‘Virtual Reality’ at Columbia Circle, 2022, and the digital curatorial project ‘ccCloud’ on the Cryptovoxels platform.
