Western Heavens: India-China Summit on Social Thought was published by Shanghai People's Publishing House and edited by Chang Tsong-zung, Chen Kuan-Hsing, and Gao Shiming.

During the 2010 Shanghai Biennale, seven of the most active and representative contemporary Indian thinkers were invited by the Inter-Asia School's West Heavens Project team to give lectures in China. This book is a collection of the main content of these scholars' fourteen lectures. In addition to the keynote speeches by the Indian thinkers, the book also includes transcriptions of comments and discussions by Chinese scholars who participated in related thematic discussions, including well-known figures such as Wang Hui, Dai Jinhua, and Zhang Rulun. These exchanges and debates between the most vibrant contemporary scholars from India and China are thus of considerable value and relevance.

The lecture content revolves around themes of globalization and modernity, specifically addressing topics such as postcolonial theory, contemporary nationalism, visual arts, and more. The Indian thinkers and the participating Chinese scholars offered their latest insights on these issues from various perspectives.
