Liu Yujia

Liu Yujia has a BA from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and an MA in fine art from the School of Communication, University of the Arts London. She currently  lives and works in Beijing. She uses documentary techniques to shoot scenes of ‘real life’, while also using ‘fictional’ or ‘false’ images to depict private moments of ‘real life’. Her recent work provides insight into the fictional and illusory aspects of social reality itself, that is, experiencing reality itself as a fiction. Liu Yujia has held solo exhibitions at DRC No.12 (Beijing, 2021), Surplus Space (Wuhan, 2021), Tang Contemporary Art (Beijing, 2017, 2016) and Shanghai Gallery of Art (Shanghai, 2015). Her works have been exhibited at numerous art institutions both domestically and internationally. She was nominated for the 2018-2019 Porsche ‘Young Chinese Artist of the Year’ Award and ‘2022 OCAT × KADIST Emerging Media Artist Program’.
