Yu Yang

Yu Yang, born in Xinyang, Henan, graduated from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1999. He studied modern and contemporary literature at Beijing University from 2003 to 2010. He currently works as an associate researcher at the Institute of New Poetry at Southwest University, and attends the Institute for Advanced Study in Humanities and Social Sciences at Zhejiang University. He is mainly committed to the study of modern and contemporary poetry from the perspective of social and ideological history, in particular ideological and cultural change in mainland China post Cultural Revolution. He has published the poetry collection ‘Returning Home’ (2015), authored ‘Internal Differences in ‘Poetry in the 1990s’: From the Perspective of Functional Construction’ (2016), and co-authored ‘Restarting Humanistic Knowledge and Thought’ (2018) with He Zhaotian. He won the 4th Liu Lian Poetry Awardin 2007, the Chinese Poetry Review Award in 2012, and the 2017 Chongqing Literature Award.
